Scientists reported that most people immunized with the mRNA vaccines might not need boosters , so long as the virus and its variants do not evolve much beyond their current forms — which is not guaranteed. Early results from a separate British study suggest that mixing brands of vaccines can provoke a protective immune response against Covid-19. While experts recommend sticking with two doses of the same vaccine, that may not be possible in many cases. Derek Chauvin was sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison for the murder of George Floyd, a rare rebuke against a police officer who killed someone while on duty. The decision brought a measure of closure to a case that set off waves of protest across the nation over police abuse of Black people. It came more than a year after a widely shared video captured the former Minneapolis police officer pressing his knee on Floyd's neck for over nine minutes.
